(I'll go on ahead and set up the plot and setting and all that jazz. IF YOU WANT TO JOIN, APPLY THROUGH THE THREAD IN THE ACCEPTED ROLEPLAY SECTION. WE ARE RECRUITING.)
Steps echoed in a seemingly barren room as a tall shaped made his way towards the center of the room. Despite how much resistance he was programmed to be expecting, ti felt almost as though the system didn't fight back at all. The man smirked as he finally reached his destination, the center of the room. Now, it would more than likely be too late for the firewall to even realize what it had just allowed into the system files.
He looked up and patiently waited for his opening. Surely enough, a soft white light eventually filled the room with warmth as a platform lowered down into the room. The man took a step back and watched it as it slowly landed on the floor. As he stepped on, it began to rise once more, up towards a pitch black room. Who could possibly know that the room with all of the core files would be so...eerie. The darkness almost seemed to make the man squirm around a bit as he tried to conceal his own giddiness.
Upon reaching the room, he made his way to a large scanner on the far left wall, away from many palely glowing boxes of varying sizes and colors. He placed his hand upon the scanner and smiled at the camera that looked him up and down several times. "Program name: Ralen. Permissions: Read, Write, and Execute," the man said to the camera, almost as though he was asking permission. "Signature unrecognized," a speaker in the room boomed out, " redirect yourself elsewhere."
Ralen laughed darkly as the scanner began to turn a murky indigo color. His smile only grew wider as a very clear sound of static filled the air. "I honestly don't think you understood me, so I'll give you one more try," he crooned back at the camera with a small pout, " I'm the system admin, and I am requesting all permissions." the darkness only seemed to grow over the scanner, as the sound of static began to grow louder and louder, almost to a deafening point. He tiled his head slightly and the smile returned to his face, as it was difficult to even act like he wasn't pleased how everything around him was turning out. "You will obey my command," he said.
In one last feeble attempt to protect the core files, the system set off an alarm. Ralen stepped back from the machine and snarled a bit. Of course everything was going to smoothly, he thought to himself. The computer still had one small defense, and he triggered it. As he quickly dashed out into the open, he made a vow that he was going to return to the core and finish his job. Right now, however, it was his only job to disable that stupid alarm before it alerted the whole firewall of his actions.
Could that be? Sandra looked up and furrowed her eyebrows as she looked around in a mix of fear and bewilderment. There was absolutely no way that could be the alarm. As she stood up, she set down several files she was looking over and stepped over to a projection of the whole system and the extensions. As she used her fingers to quickly flip through the scenes on the projection, she could feel her heart racing.
There was absolutely no way she messed this up. Not Sandra. Oh no. She narrowed her hazel eyes and leaned closer to the screen as she pulled her goggles over her eyes. Everything in front of her seemed to magnify a little bit as she glanced around. It didn't take too long until she saw that the alarm lights were indeed flashing brightly.
She felt bile rising to her throat a bit as she saw something out of the corner of her eye. In the corner of the projection, she could vaguely see a figure running off screen, in the direction of the alarm settings. She grabbed a microphone and quickly started jabbering what probably sounded like random nonsense to anyone not used to hearing her, "There was this thing--- Oh my god it's near the--- I don't....how did I......." she stammered out lamely as she stared at the spot the figure was in a few moments prior.
